Heathside offers an excellent mix of physical, performance and extra-curricular activities and the opportunity for every student to discover and develop his or her talents.

We are the English Primary Schools Chess Association's Champion for the last two years and have three teams in the semifinal this year. We have also held English Primary Schools Chess Association's National Small School Champion title for eight years.

We coach a full range of team sports, including football, cricket, rounders, basketball and netball and play frequent friendlies against other schools. Our physical activity programme also covers swimming, cross-country running, gymnastics, athletics, music and movement, karate, yoga and capoeira.

We have a thriving drama programme that includes almost twenty annual productions, including Upper School performances of Shakespeare, Gilbert & Sullivan and major classical and modern plays and musicals.

Music plays a big part in school life. We have choirs including an accomplished Chamber Choir. We have instrumental groups including violin and cello groups, guitar groups, wind groups, ocarina groups, recorder groups, a flute group and a wind group. We offer Individual instrument lessons and hold frequent concerts and performances.

Clubs include Art, Band, Basketball, Capoeira, Card Club, Chess, Chinese, Choir, Code Club, Dance, Design & Technology, Drama, Drawing, Football, Guitar, Gymnastics, Italian, Maths, Netball, Philosophy, Science, Spanish, Tap Dancing, Yoga, and Write & Recite.

The school is twinned with a primary school in Soweto: we share life stories and hold regular fundraising events. We also support a nursery in the Cape Flats in Cape Town and a special school in Uganda. Older students participate in an exchange programme with students in the Brittany region of France. We also have Italian and Japanese students come to visit in the summer.

Finally, when it snows, we build snowmen and go tobogganing on Hampstead Heath.
